Uber doesn't work — download Kakao T

Uber doesn't work in Korea (Bolt neither). Download Kakao T: shows you the price upfront and translates your destination for the driver. Like Bolt, but Korean style.

Naver Map beats Google Maps

Google Maps is okay for basics, but for public transport Naver Map is way more accurate. It has English mode and shows metro and buses in real time.

T-money — your transport card in Korea

Buy at any convenience store (CU, GS25, 7-Eleven). Top up and use on metro, buses and in shops. Like a rechargeable BRT card but for everything. ₦5,000 is enough for a full day in Seoul.

Nigerian passport = visa required

Nigerian citizens need a visa for South Korea. Apply at the Korean Embassy in Abuja or Consulate in Lagos. Processing typically takes 5-7 working days. Apply early!

Opay and PalmPay don't work — use cards

Nigerian fintech apps won't work in Korea. Bring a Naira card with international spending enabled or get a dollar card before you travel. Samsung Pay and Apple Pay work almost everywhere.

Korean food — incredibly delicious

Samgyeopsal (meat grilled at your table — like suya but indoors), Chimek (fried chicken + beer — your new favourite combo), Bibimbap (rice + veggies + egg). Want it spicy? Say "maeun". Side dishes (banchan) are free and unlimited refills.

WhatsApp works fine

WhatsApp works perfectly in Korea. But Koreans use KakaoTalk — download it too, shops and restaurants often need it.
