The Case for eSIM

Why British travellers are ditching roaming add-ons

Since Brexit, free EU roaming vanished. Korea was never covered anyway. EE and Three charge a fortune — and cap your data. There's a better way.

Keep Your UK Number

Dual SIM means your EE, Three, Vodafone, or O2 stays active. iMessage, WhatsApp, bank OTPs — all work as normal.

Proper 5G, Not Shared WiFi

Direct connection to Korean carriers. Far more reliable than pocket WiFi, especially on the KTX and in Seoul's subway.

Two Minutes, Sorted

Scan QR code at home. Activate when you land. Connected before you've even cleared arrivals. No queue, no collection desk.

From £3/Day

EE charges £6.22/day capped to your plan data. Our unlimited 5G is £3/day. That's proper value for money.

"We were paying £12/day between us for EE roaming last time. This trip we got eSIMs for under £30 total for the week. Genuinely wish we'd known sooner."

— Sarah & James, Manchester (7-day trip, Nov 2025)

Travel Tips

Before you fly from Heathrow

Naver Map, not Google

Google Maps isn't reliable for Korean public transport. Naver Map has English mode and is spot-on for buses and subway.

Kakao T instead of Uber

Uber barely exists in Korea. Kakao T is the one — fare shown upfront, auto-translates your destination for the driver.

Get a T-money card

Tap card for subway, bus, and convenience store payments. Grab one at any 7-Eleven for about £2.

Download KakaoTalk

Korea's WhatsApp. Restaurants, shops, and services all use it. Essential for booking and enquiries.

K-ETA not needed in 2026

UK passport holders currently don't need K-ETA for short stays. Check gov.uk before you go, as rules can change.

Cash is still useful

Korea loves cards, but traditional markets and smaller spots prefer cash. Withdraw won at any ATM with your UK card.

FAQ

No. eSIM is entirely digital — scan the QR at home, connected the moment you land. No queue at the airport.

Considerably. EE charges £6.22/day and it uses your existing data allowance. Our unlimited 5G for 7 days is £14 total. That's £29 saved versus EE for the same trip.

Yes. Dual SIM keeps your EE/Three/Vodafone/O2 active for calls, texts, and OTPs. The eSIM handles data only.

Hotspot works, but individual eSIMs are better — each person gets their own 5G connection. Groups of 3+ get a discount.

Most iPhones from XS onwards and Samsung Galaxy S20+ support eSIM. If yours doesn't, we can arrange a physical SIM posted to your UK address before you fly.
